A new video has recently surfaced of the first ever dunk in a women’s college basketball game.  Columbus, Ohio Northland High School graduate Georgeann Wells made history as she played for West Virginia on December 21,  1984.  Approximately 100 people witnessed history that night as West Virginia and The University of Charleston met that night on the hardwood.   Until now now visual evidence ever existed of the dunk that made history in the world of women’s college basketball.  At that time The University of Charleston head coach, Bud Francis,  refused to release the videotape of the game to anyone.

West Virginia left its film equipment at home in Morgantown to save on expenses. It was Georgeann’s  second game back after the death of her father. He had always called her after games, and always started the conversation: “Did you do it? Did you dunk, Georgeann?” Distracted by his death, she was benched for poor play, she says.  Watch the previously unreleased video above.
