As a black man & alternative R&B singer who takes pride in my appearance, and is often complimented on it, I couldn’t resist the challenge of creating a ‘Top 10 List’ of the Best Dressed R&B Legends.’ I believe your sense of style is essential to your identity. I will say that we all have terrible days or have made some questionable choices when presenting ourselves, but the goal is to not have too many of those days.
My list is based on the consistency of their appearance. These are the R&B legends that I felt took pride in being well dressed…stylist or not. (They didn’t fire them!) They did well in projecting their personal style every day, no matter if they were on stage or just living their lives.
I will say this wasn’t the easiest task to complete. We as artists need to push taste more, like some of our predecessors. Maybe as R&B singers we should pay more attention to our taste rather than trends, or create a strong balance.
“Style is very personal; it has nothing to do with fashion. Fashion is over quickly. Style is forever.” – Ralph Lauren SOURCE
